Obverse: The obverse features the official Apollo 11 logo. It depicts a star launching from the earth heading toward the moon. Inscriptions along the rim offer the name of the mission, "APOLLO 14," and the names of the crew members, "SHEPARD," "ROOSA," and "MITCHELL."
Reverse: Reverse inscriptions provide essential information about the mission and the medal. Down the center are the inscriptions, "LAUNCHED JAN. 31, 1971," "LANDED FEB. 5, 1971," and "RETURNED FEB. 9, 1971." Above and below those, respectively, are inscriptions of the medal's weight and purity, "2 TROY OZ .999 AG," and the anniversary dates, "1971-2021." The names of the crew members, "ALAN B. SHEPARD," "STUART A. ROOSA," and "EDGAR D MITCHELL," are inscribed on the rim frame.
