Obverse: The obverse portrays Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II facing right, with the Royal Diamond Diadem upon her head. The effigy is encircled by the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA" and "1 DOLLAR." This likeness of the monarch was designed in 2015 by award-winning British medallic sculptor Jody Clark.

Reverse: The reverse features a sensational rendition of an adult kangaroo and its joey bounding above a plain covered by scattered low foliage, with several small hills rising in the background. The colorized creatures and landscape are boldly contrasted against a mirrored background, which is inscribed with the series name "KANGAROO," and "2022 1 OZ 9999 SILVER" curving above. The Perth Mint mark "P" appears adjacent to the horizon.
