The Echoes of Australia Series pays tribute to some of Australia’s extinct animals. This coin features the Lesser Bilby, a small carnivore that lived in the most arid deserts down under. Part of a mintage of just 5,000 pieces, this coin was struck at the Royal Australian Mint from 1 oz of .999 fine silver and is plated in stunning black nickel that truly allows the gold highlighted Bilby to stand out.

Adorable Lesser Bilby Design
The coin’s obverse features an image that is familiar to collectors, Ian Rank-Broadley’s right-side portrait of reigning British monarch Queen Elizabeth II. Rank-Broadley shows her wearing a tiara. Her name, “ELIZABETH II,” joins “AUSTRALIA,” “2019,” and “5 DOLLARS” on the rim

The reverse features the Lesser Bilby in its natural habitat, the desert floor. “LESSER BILBY” is inscribed along the rim at the bottom.

Flawless PF70 UC FR with Exclusive Opera House Label
This coin’s grading information has been provided on a label that features the Sydney Opera House, Australia’s most famous landmark. The grading information includes Numismatic Guaranty Corporation’s (NGC’s) highest grade, Proof 70, which is only given to coins that appear perfect under 5x magnification. It also includes Ultra Cameo and First Releases certifications, which indicate that a coin bears sharp contrasts between heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields and that it was submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial mint release, respectively.
